Could not put key in ignition and steering wheel locked. Needed to have car towed to dealer. Dealership had a brand new replacment part they told me was "defective" and they had to go to another dealer to get part. Since 2002 i have experienced many problems with the ignition, key will not turn when inserted in ignition switch. I have replaced that part twice, $500 dollars each time. It's been only one year since the last time that i got it fixed and again i'm having problems everytime that i try to start the ignition. *jb

The ignition switch on my car is not working. If it has to be replaced, it will be the third time since i bought the car. Which was in febuary of 2002. If a locksmith shop can repair the problem, why is it that a ford dealership can't?

Ignition switch failed, had to have car towed to dealership and replaced for $300. I've seen that many people have had this problem and i want to be included in that number with the hope that ford will recall and reimburse me.

I noticed the doors squeaking soon after i purchased the car. The noise became progressively worse over the next year. The dealership brushed off my questions telling me the doors just needed grease. Now that the warranty is up they tell me it will cost $405.00 for them to fix. The doors have not squeaked for over a year, now they don't lock and both rear doors fly open when i take a corner so i keep them tied shut…

The key would not go into the switch, when it finally did i was unable to turn it- the tow truck driver said he'd seen seversl of these focus' having this problem- vehicle was towed to dealer on sunday- they worked on it monday and until 2 pm tuesday - charged full cost for labor and part- there is quite a history being built in your files of this problem. In the past there would almost never be a problem with keys…

I cannot start my 2000 ford focus because the ignition key will not turn in the steering column - i called the dealer where i bought it - the service department gave me an estimate of $350 over the phone and said to save the receipt since this may become a recall - in the meantime i am unable to use the vehicle to drive to work until i can come up with at least $350.*ak

Ignition key fails to turn in lock cylinder. Steering wheel cannot be moved or unlocked when vehicle is parked. Vehicle has been stranded and towed to ford dealer for repair 3 times ( at 22000, 37254 & 43000 miles) now. Inoperative lock cylinder was drilled out and replaced in each case. I was charged $287.00 for the second repair (plus towing) because it "was not covered under warranty".*ak
