The ignition on my 2000 ford focus is locking up to the point where i cannot turn my key. The car has 47,000 miles on it. I was stranded for 20 mins the other night trying to get the key to turn. The factory power entry remote failed to open the doors and the trunk. The batteries have been changed but the problem still exist. The dealership feels that the problem is due to a failure in the fuse. The dealership was unable to locate the fuse. Once stopped, consumer turned key to off position and engine kept running. Consumer then removed "replaced" brake fuse, and engine stopped. With fuse removed brake lights worked.
